Default Noobs

Here's a term I really dislike. I rarely or almost never say it and I think it's really a sad term. I totally accept trash talking though. It has always been part of the game and all that but this term is really said too much. Here's my story:

We were out experimenting with builds in team arenas and we come upon this balanced group. We obviously lost to a more decent group since our build was just a trial but they were really jerks about it. We find them again so again they kept calling us noobs and kept saying we suck, we already said it was experimental but they were real ----s about it. We really don't care so we don't bother retaliating and move on.

Another time was when we made a quick spike build and we took it to HoH. We fight and go up against this group, we kill about half their team but get ourselves killed in the process. Again it was a good try for a new build but again they start. They go "stupid noobs", "YOU GUYS JUST GOT ----ing OWNED!!" and "go back to farming ettins or something". Which is so ironic because we killed most of them in the begginning and that guy was wearing 15karmor. We just didn't know our real flaws yet so we lost, good try and more practice then.

I find stupid people like these everywhere and it sickens me. So I guess most noobs call others noobs. I find ignorance is different from stupidity and people think they are so good because they know something the other doesn't. The only time I could call a person a noob is when they are really serious about something stupid. Like a ranger saying he owned you because he comboed Ignite Arrows with Barrage, now that is a real dumbass right there. If people actually gave a good match and played decently but still lost, I'd simply say gg and nice job. Wouldn't bother calling everyone I beat a noob and everyone who are less experienced either.

Wel....it's like that unfortunately.
These terms are so inbedded in talk in games, that they are known (and used) by many. Nothing to do about it, aside from not participating in it.
Let it go, and don't let it distract you much.
Granted, I've had a share of trashtalk that was totally unwarranted also, and at that moment your jaw drops out of unbelief sometimes, but a moment later you just play on. They don't know what they are saying, think it doesn't matter because they are on the net.

Just enjoy the game. Sorry I can't give any better advice...
Oh...and join a great non-trashtalking guild

God that winds them up more than anything else you can say sometimes, i just repeat LOL at every insult they throw at me.

Also as im normally a monk of late, if anyone calls a guildee noob i will threaten to leave (i dont of course but it soon shuts em up 90% of the time, and of course this is pve only).

In my experience in RPGs in general, its usually the nuubs themselves that cant wait to get just a little bit of skill, so they can start calling other new players nuubs, like the term was goin outta style.
So, take some consilation in that bro.
And yes, also take alot of consilation in the fact that they are the typical comic book guy, and most likely do live in their parents basement... Just tell em its wayy past their bedtime and they better not let their fathers catch them up on his puter, he might get a spanking before bedtime, or just lol them to death

Actually yeah it doesn't really bother me. I just feel bad for other people since they whine about the PvP world being so arrogant and its not always like that. I find it being a sad fact everyone likes to start stupid ---- but then again I know it already is a thing in our current society. I just hope no other decent player can be such an ---hole about these things and other newbies turn out to be one. It's not like I never trashtalk before to build some interest up but I find too much people making a big deal about these things.
Oh and I do have a good guild . Nice people and very helpful, probably the most decent players I know.

It's cause some people want to be "gamers" cause they think its cool. Real hard-core gamers no better though.

We ban the use of the term in our guild. Anyone caught using it is kicked. Some people find it very offensive so we take a firm stance on it.

And I agree, the only people that use it are usually barely skilled themselves. But, next time someone calls you a noob just remember, they are probably a spotty kid with jam-jars glasses and no social life. Just laugh it off and get on with it.

What bugs me is that the term NOOB is more often used to express of feeling of superiority.

Ppl that think of themselves as soooooo godly everybody else must be a noob.

Yesterday a warrior who was calling out for a veteran monk to join his group saying that you would have to show him your armor and answer a few questions correct or be kicked out as a NOOB.

I am a veteran monk but i told him i would not even join his team if he paid me.

So came the classical answer

NOOB !!

Hey now I feel insulted! Ever saw the Specsaver commercial? Do not mess with four-eyes!!!

We use the term noob in our guild, but strictly in the guildchat/over TS. This is for fun reasons only of course.

Well in my experience of PvP (in other games than GW) it's always like that... PvP breeds competition and hate and... name calling.

The term "NOOB" is why I hate PvP. I'm looking to have fun not to be called stupid names.

It is rather frustrating. No offense, but I find it is usually younger players using this term. I am not catagorizing all younger aged players, but it does seem the trend. I have left many Guilds for this reason, and will continue to do so until the right fit comes along. (No need to send me a whisper, currently in a Guild, hopefully it works out )

Turn off alltalk. I have much more fun that way, and can still type gg after a fight. I just don't have to read the guy telling me that X is lame" or "Y is for n00bs" after a match. The funny part is that the best way to get called a n00b is to demolish someone with an unconventional build...

I think just demolishing someone using 2 hits gets me called a noob all the time.

"Only Noobs always use Eviscerate and Executioner's Strike!!"

Then, mark me a noob, that still makes me better than the dead guy... ^_^

Dont feed the trolls! Sometimes when i hook up with friends we shit talk people just to piss em off. I dont know why, but people just cant stand being called a noob. Its such great troll bait and yet means so very little. Why would it bother you if you've been around for a while and you know the game well. These people try to get under your skin and obviously its working great:P

Its kind of like those runners in team arena that all focus on running from you. They dont do it to farm easy faction..they do it to break you and piss you off. I think its funny personally and ive been part of that scene a few times..of course it helps if your on the giving end of it and not the recieving. Just ignore them and move on..saves many headaches.
